Husky follow-up

Following the appearance of Dave Gavin’s awesome Hillman Husky on the NASC stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2003, the Hillman Owners Club has featured – as promised – the car in the pages of their club magazine, “Coventry Spires”.

It was apparently very well received by a high majority of the readers, so much so that Ray Sellers of the Husky Register has invited Dave – with his car if possible – to the Hillman Owners Club AGM at the Coventry Museum of Transport on the 3rd and 4th of April 2004. They are to put him up and arrange a meal for him in a local hostelry to round off the Saturday evening. Then on Sunday they have arranged a tour of the current Peugeot production line, and the rest of the factory, to see how the industry has progressed. Then over lunch they chat about cars and consider the topics on the agenda for their AGM that starts at 2pm.

Most, it seems had a real appreciation of the immense amount of work that has been put in on the car, and Ray has asked to be kept up to date with the progress of the rest of the build, with photos if possible so that he can feature the car in their magazine again. This level of interaction with a classic car club, where most members are coming from a completely different direction, is quite amazing and must be encouraged and nurtured. It can only be good for us all.
