Search for a Site
Rest assured that the NASC is totally aware of the issues surrounding the current venue of the Street Rod Nationals, some longstanding attendees have been very vocal, and possibly divisive in their reaction to the “Nats” being held there this season.

It may be appropriate, for those that might not know, to explain the reason for the move from Essex to Hertfordshire. A major road development was due to swallow up much of the land at the front of the Essex Showground, and had we held the event there three years ago, we would have been jockeying for position with earthmovers and steamrollers! Hence we simply had to move, we had no other option. An emergency trawl of available sites was made and the Hertfordshire site was the only one that really fitted the bill, it wasn’t quite as big as we wanted, but isn’t that always the case? Still, we had to go with it ‘cos it was the best we could find at very short notice. We said at the time that we would probably be there for a maximum of three years, with this year being the third.

NASC officials have probably assessed every major venue in the country with a view to it hosting the “Nats”. Some are simply not suitable, some are just in terrible locations, some have nothing going for them at all, some are so expensive that even Michael Jackson, Richard Branson or David Beckham probably couldn’t afford the rent! But we think that there must be a site out there somewhere that would be just perfect for us.

Do you know where it is? No? Think again, perhaps you do without realising it!

We need a site of around 100 acres, preferably fairly flat with a two-lane quarter mile flat tarmac strip, a centrally heated clubhouse to hold around 3000 partygoers, with an in-house sound system and fully equipped stage. There should be attended centrally heated toilets, shower and hot-tub facilities every 200 yards, and electricity hook-ups at every bordered camping pitch, with breakfast being provided between 07:30 and 10:30. Filtered fresh water should be available throughout the site and ……….

That’s enough of the dreams!

Seriously now, 100 acres is around what we need. Sites that have previously hosted events of some kind would be preferable, some facilities would be great but we can organise most things, anywhere. You just find us an easily accessible site, with at least two good entrances/exits and we’ll do the rest.

Think you can help, got a site in mind? Contact the NASC office on 01933 625183 or pass the details on to your nearest NASC representative and they’ll get the ball rolling. Thanks for your help.
