What’s happening?
Since the AGM in December 2002 the NASC committee has welcomed a number of new enthusiasts to the throng. Take a look at the updated “Who we are” pages on our Website for the full story on the new recruits.

While you’re there you will probably notice that one or two old stagers have decided to step out of the limelight, their contribution to the running of the association will no doubt be missed.
But soldier on we must.

The Street Rod Nationals venue continues to be a hot topic for discussion at every meeting. While we are contractually committed to the event being staged at Herts this year, we are actively searching for an alternative venue. Although we are aware of the disquiet from certain factions surrounding Herts as the Nats venue, what we don’t really understand is - why? It’s much like any other county showground site, but it’s better located than most, and it provides reasonably proportioned accommodation for our event. So why such a downer on it?

One person recently had the audacity to say that he wasn’t bored sitting in a field at one event, but he was at the Nats!! Can anyone realistically justify making that sort of statement and can you seriously believe such a ridiculous comment!?

This is precisely the type of complete unmitigated garbage we regularly have to contend with, constructive criticism or comment is welcomed, utter rubbish is not.

It seems that the event is a victim of its own success, it has grown, that’s obvious to anyone – some say out of all proportion. But has it? Is it simply that people are being far too nostalgic, hankering after times past? Remembering those old events with the inevitable rose tinted glasses, or not realising that their morning after the night before feeling is seriously affecting their memory and judgement.
Despite the problems and the hardship we will continue to do the best we can for the association, on your behalf we always demand the best deal for all services, at every event. But with the seemingly endless red tape and increasing petty bureaucracy associated with any event, there is now so much more work that has to go on behind the scenes, both before and during the event, to ensure it all runs smoothly. Sometimes it doesn’t, but that isn’t through lack of trying.

Please bear with us; we are doing our best for you – the membership.

Should you wish to comment on any aspect of the association and its events, please do so in writing and address all correspondence, which must include your name and address, to the association secretary - John Pryor. 68 Burncroft Avenue, Enfield, Middlesex. EN3 7JH
